Well, as obvious by the fact that I haven't really updated much at all... I'm still busy. Just to update some info though...

Last semester I took a life drawing class (best idea evar!) to improve my art for a portfolio submission to get into this animation major we have here at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The department is the Academy for Creative Media (ACM) and it's actually divided into animation and game design, Film, and critical studies (of media things). I had decided that semester that I didn't really want to just get a art degree in drawing and painting (didn't know what I'd do with just that), so I tried for ACM. Very difficult process since the ACM isn't it's own department yet, so I had to go through Interdisciplinary studies (IS) which requires you to write a proposal for your major (create your own major). Anyways, to make a long story short, I got accepted (w00t) and this past semester which is almost done (just have finals week next week), I've been taking my first animation classes.

In one class we do more animations (principles of animation etc.) and in the other we work with the program Maya and we learned to how to do the basics and such. Had homework every weekend. I had no weekends this semester essentially... but it was an excellent learning experience and I had a lot of fun. I'm proud of my work, but look forward to improving everything. I'll have to post some of my rendered stuff up. I don't think I can post animations..

Whoo. It's been a blast though, and I love animating! ^_^ I really want to get my basic principles down pat since that's really the most important thing if you want to get noticed by the big wigs etc. That's what my teacher (Linda Dorn) basically said. She's so enthusiastic, it's awesome.

Anyways, next semester's work load will be even worse than this one... I have only 4 classes, but the work load will be death. MW only, but first class is at 7:30am and last class ends at 8:45pm. It was recommended that we powernap somewhere inbetween. I kind of like it in the sense that I have the other days of the week to work on my work. :3
